Smethport - Larry B. Norton, 62, of Smethport, went to be with his Lord on Monday (April 3, 2017).
He was born June 26, 1954 in Bradford, a son of Charles and Doris Myers Norton. On Sept. 12, 1982, in Birch Grove Mennonite Church, Port Allegany, he married Sharon L. Taylor, who survives.
Larry was a lifetime resident of the area and graduated from Otto-Eldred High School, class of 1972.
Larry held many positions in his lifetime. He worked for Pierce Glass Co. of Port Allegany, Port Allegany Police Dept., was a McKean County Jail guard and a McKean County 911 dispatcher, he then became director of the McKean County 911 Center, and was a local school bus driver and drove for ATA.
He attended the Birch Grove Mennonite Church, was a past member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #333 of Rew, PA, member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #460 of Port Allegany, Sons of the American Legion; Post #976 of Crosby, McKean County Legion Riders, where he was a former vice president. He was a driver, member of the board of directors, past president and vice president of the Port Allegany Ambulance Assoc. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles and attending NASCAR races. He loved his animals and is now reunited with them at the Rainbow Bridge.
He was very proud and loved his three granddaughters and his son's accomplishments in the USAF.

one son: Major Corey M. (Jessica) Norton of Rhamstein-Pfalz, Germany
3 granddaughters: Emma, Paige and Kasey Norton of Germany
3 Cousins, who he thought of as sisters: Colleen Nobles of Smethport, Lynne Flexman and Sherry Brooks, both of Lancaster, PA
He was preceded in death by his parents.
At Larry's request, there will be no visitation or funeral services at this time. Burial will be in Grimes Cemetery, Grimes District.
