Chubon, 84, of Smethport, died Saturday (May 30, 2009) in the Lakeview Senior Care & Living Ctr., Smethport.She was born April 24, 1925 in Port Allegany, a daughter of Frank and Mary Ponikvar. On July 17, 1948, in Kane, PA, she married Paul P. Chubon, who died July 21, 1981.Mrs. Chubon was a graduate of Colegrove High School. She had worked in the shipping department at Smethport Specialties, but for the majority of her life, she was a homemaker tending to the needs of her family.She was a member of St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport.She is survived bytwo sons: Stephen P. (Karen) Chubon of Tustin, CA, Gregory M. (Patty) Chubon of Sugarland, TX2 granddaughters: Lauren and Alexis Chubon of Sugarland, TXone sister: Caroline Bush of Gettysburg, PAone brother: Edward Ponikvar of Smethport, PAand several nieces and nephewsIn addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 1, 2009, at 10:00 A.M., in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. Visitation was held on Sunday from 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, at Lakeview Sr. Care and Living Center, Smethport, at 10 A.M., with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, officiating.Memorials, if desired can be made to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Smethport, or the Alzheimer's Association, 110 West 10th St., Suite 212 Erie, PA 16501.
