Obituary of Mary Alice Rowan

Port Allegany - Mary Alice Rowan, 87, of Port Allegany, formally of Emporium and the Extended Care at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, died Monday (December 7, 2009) in the Hamot Medical Center, Erie. She was born March 16, 1922 in Salisbury, NC, a daughter of Carl and Ester Dry Troutman. On May 29, 1943, in Washington, D.C., she married Patrick Rowan, who died April 30, 1986. Mrs. Rowan was a home maker. She is survived by three daughters: Cynthia (Dort) Knapp of Port Allegany, PA, Mary Patricia Leightly of Emporium, PA, Carol Lee (Fred) Smith of Cary, NC Grandchildren: Allan Rowan, Michael Leightly, Darrell Smith, Darcy Smith, Carrie Potter, and Laura Nelson 7 Great Grandchildren one sister: Edith Moore of Charlotte, NC one brother: Ned Troutman of NC In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Ryan Leightly. There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be announced at a later date, at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the S.W. Smith Library, Port Allegany, PA.
