Obituary of Michael James Falatic, Jr.

Smethport - Michael James “Jim” Falatic, Jr., also known as “Jim the Sign Painter”, 69, of Smethport, died Thursday (March 13, 2014) at his residence, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 5, 1945 in Altoona, a son of Michael James and Katherine M. Gresko Falatic, Sr. On June 5, 1970, in Virginia, he married Carol J. Grimm, who survives. Mr. Falatic was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School of Warren, OH and attended college for Art. He served as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army. Jim was a sign painter and artist, running his own business, Jim Falatic Signs for many years. Jim was a member of the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby and was a former member of the McKean County Sheriff’s Dept. His passion was painting and he loved fishing, hunting and traveling. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two daughters: Michelle (Rob) Stuart of Smethport, and Teresa Wolfe of Park City , UT 2 granddaughters: Jersee Rae Stuart and Kendall Wolfe one sister: Katherine M. Gresko of Warren, OH He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, from 10 A.M. to 12 noon at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held at noon with the Rev.
