Obituary of Albert W. Olmstead, Sr.

Shinglehouse - Albert W. Olmstead, Sr., 82, of Shinglehouse,died Friday (April 11, 2014), at his home in Shinglehouse surrounded by hisloving family.  He was born Aug. 4, 1931 in Shinglehouse, a son of Nathaniel andZella Smith Olmstead. On November 25, 1950, he married Stella G. ”Jerri” Phillips, who survives.  In his early years, he was a gas well driller and water welldriller.  For most of Al’s life, he was aheavy equipment operator or welder for various pipeline contractors, retiringin 1992.  He was an avid hunter andfisherman.  He enjoyed creating uniqueprojects in his workshop.  His truepassion in life was his family and grandbabies.   In addition to his wife, he is survived by: Two sons:  Albert W. “Skeeter” (Gretta) Olmstead, Jr. ofShinglehouse and Dewey Olmstead of Port Allegany. Two daughters:  Beverly (Steven) Evens of Port Allegany andDonna (Denny) O’Rourke of Smethport.11 Grandchildren: Joann Dunn, Mark Olmstead, Misty Ingram,Kristy Young, Brian Olmstead, Hunter Olmstead, Rhonda Pantuso, Shannon Abbott,Nathaniel Evens, Jennie Selfridge, and Chelsie Taylor22 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by fivebrothers: Llewellyn, Leland, Richard, Cecil, and Ike Olmstead; two sisters:Zelma Mitchell and Eva Cole.  Following with Mr. Olmstead’s wishes, there will be novisitation or funeral services.
