Obituary of Dolores Marie Rosenswie

Smethport - Dolores Marie Rosenswie, 93, of Smethport, died Friday (July 4, 2014), at her residence in Smethport. She was born Feb. 1, 1921 in Snydersburg, PA, a daughter of Robert Ambrose and Mary Margaret Wolbert Nick. On July 3, 1941, she married Leonard Murphy, who died on Oct. 27, 1962. She then married Edward Rosenswie on Aug. 22, 1964, who died June 10, 1989. Mrs. Rosenswie was a 1938 graduate of Smethport High School and worked as secretary for District Justice, Edward Rosenswie in Smethport. She was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Smethport, former member of St. Elizabeth's Women, was a long time volunteer at Sena Kean Manor in Smethport, volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Smethport, and was an avid bowler over the years. She is survived by: three sons: Michael (Elizabeth) Murphy of Glenshaw, PA, Robert ( Judi) Murphy of Smethport, and William (Heather) Murphy of Cherokee, NC daughter in law: Elizabeth Murphy of Duke Center Grandchildren: Erin (Jon) Powers, Colin (Dawn) Murphy, Justin Murphy, William Murphy, III, Brendan, Zachary, and Matthew Murphy 1 Great Granddaughter: Claire Powers two step sons: John "Jack" (Marilyn) Rosenswie and Carl “Bud” Rosenswie, both of Smethport one step daughter: Cecelia Megivern of Burk, VA five brothers: Bernard (Verna) Nick of Stonington, CT, Robert (Nancy) Nick of Smethport, William (Mary Jean) Nick of Venice, FL, Earl (Polly) Nick of Williamsport, and John (Pam) Nick of Erie two sisters: Mary Eidson of Smethport and Connie (Don) Switzer of Rew, and many nieces and nephews In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Murphy, one brother and three sisters. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor, as Celebrant. Committal will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Elizabeth's Building Fund, 307 Franklin St., Smethport, PA 16749.
