Obituary of Michael M. Swort

Smethport - Michael M. Swort, 64, of Smethport, died Tuesday (December 30, 2014) at his residence. He was born Nov. 7, 1950 in Port Allegany, a son of Maynard J. and Mildred I. Coleman Swort. On Sept. 15, 1978, in Bowie, TX, he married Nancy Bell, who survives. Mr. Swort was a 1968 graduate of Smethport High School. He was employed by Pittsburgh Corning of Port Allegany for 42 years, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed wood working in his woodshop and doing mechanical work on just about anything. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: five daughters: Sonia (Tony) High of Elkins, AR, Marcia (William) Kellar of Copperas Cove, TX, Clarissa (Allen) Waters of Jacksonville, FL, Karen (Johnny) McCulley of Fair Play, SC, and Melissa Swort of Jacksonville, FL three sons: Edward E. (Lori Coffman) Hairston of Smethport, PA, Matthew Christian (Nicole) Swort of Port Deposit, MD, and William M. (Kellie) Swort of Milton, FL 22 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren One sister: Penny Stile of Gettysburg, PA And several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 2, from 10-11 A.M., in the East Smethport United Christian Church, where funeral and committal services will follow at 11 A.M., with the Rev. Allen D. Young, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the East Smethport United Christian Church.
