Obituary of Melvin Howard Nelson

Smethport - Melvin Howard Nelson, 62, of Coryville, died unexpectedly Tuesday (February 17, 2015) at his residence. He was born Dec. 23, 1952 in Bradford, a son of Floyd and Anna Marsh Nelson. On January 25, 1982, in Derrick City, PA, he married Phobie Jane Shonts, who survives. Mr. Nelson was a graduate of Bradford High School and lastly worked for Servco in Bradford. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Church of Bradford. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: five daughters: Desirae (Milton) Pierce of Smethport, Jamie Nelson-Rafi and Jackie Nelson, both of Delaware, Tracey (Jason) Burton of Alabama, and Sunserae Nelson of TX one son: Christopher (Stephanie) Nelson of Olean, NY one granddaughter: Hailey Burton two sisters: Judy George of Lancaster, PA and JoAnne Wallett of Delaware one brother: Floyd Nelson, III of Gifford, PA and several nieces and nephews In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
