Obituary of Rose Ellen Elliott

Smethport - Rose Ellen "Snooks" Elliott, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, of Clear Brook, VA, died Thursday (March 12, 2015), at age 76. She was born Nov. 1, 1938 in Kane, PA, a daughter of Arthur and Ellen Hyde Cooper. On October 4, 1958, in the East Smethport United Christian Church, she married Dale E. Elliott, who survives. Mrs. Elliott was a 1956 graduate of Smethport High School and attended Jamestown Business School and worked in the family business for many years. Family was most important to Rose. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an active member for many years in the Smethport Jaycee's Wives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son: Joseph E. (Wendy) Elliott of Hughesville, PA two daughters: Julie E. (Dale) Swingle of Sayre, PA and Jean E. (Robert) Whitacre of Winchester, VA 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren one sister: Karen (Tom) McKean of Wellington, OH, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. Funeral and committal services will be held on Monday, March 16, at 11 A.M. in the funeral home with the Rev. Allen D. Young, pastor of the East Smethport United Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport. Being that Rose was an avid reader, memorials may be made to the Hamlin Memorial Library, 123 Mechanic St., Smethport, PA 16749, or a charity of the donor's choice.
