Obituary of John W. Faes

Smethport - John W. Faes, 59, of Port Allegany, died unexpectedly, Monday (January 18, 2016) at Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport. He was born Sept. 5, 1956 in Port Allegany, a son of Robert and Margaret Cooney Faes, Sr. On Oct 8, 2009, in Smethport, PA, he married Karen Yeager-Stebbins, who survives. Mr. Faes was a Smethport Area High School graduate and was employed by Pittsburgh Corning of Port Allegany, for over 40 years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby and a social member of the VFW Post #2497 of Smethport. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one sister: Lori (Bob) Gigliotti of Durham, NC one brother: Robert (Phyllis) Faes, Jr. of Smethport, PA two step sons, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Faes, on Dec. 14, 2001. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, from 4-7 PM at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, where funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday, Jan.23 at 12:30 PM from the funeral home, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport, officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, PA or the VFW Post #2497 of Smethport.
