Obituary of James F. Smith

Eldred - James F. Smith, 69, of Eldred, died Monday (February 8, 2016) in the UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA. He was born Nov. 7, 1946 in Port Allegany, a son of Fredrick and Ramona Lathrop Smith. On Sept. 11, 1993, at Willow Bay, he married Edythe R. Pierce, who survives. Mr. Smith was a truck driver, employed by Eagle Express of St. Marys, PA. He enjoyed racing cars and had raced at Smethport and Bradford race tracks. He was car #54 and was known as "Smokin' Jim". In addition to his wife, he is survived by: Five sons: James T., Ed, and Jason Smith and Robert Pierce, all of PA, and Tom Smith of Hawaii. Four daughters: Mona Novac, Erin DiDomizio, Stephanie Bradybough and Michelle Reed, all of PA One brother: Gary Smith of Eldred One sister: Lori Heller of Duke Center 20 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother. A memorial service will be held at a later time and date. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
