Obituary of William Gray Seighman

Smethport - William Gray Seighman, 77, of Smethport, died Thursday (February 11, 2016) at his residence. He was born June 10, 1938 in North Charleroi, PA, a son of William Benjamin and Louise Hickman Seighman. On June 10, 1961, in the Christian Gospel Church of Coleville, he married Carlyn P. Gallup, who survives. Mr. Seighman was a 1956 graduate of Rostraver Township High School and joined the Navy. He served from 1956 to 1960. He was a Builder 2nd Class in the Seabees. Bill worked for Duggan & Duggan of Olean, NY for many years. He attended the Christian Gospel Church of Coleville, loved hunting with his favorite dog, "JR", enjoyed traveling, and watching games of his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bill loved driving old Jeeps. He restored a 1947 Willys CJ2A. Bill's greatest accomplishment was building the log cabin home that he and Carlyn lived in. He started the house in 1982 and completed it in 1984. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Cora Louise (Dave Ahearn) Hall of Crosby, Paula Diane (David, III) Brandt of Kersey, and Kelly Sue Ann (Daniel) Davis of Smethport two sons: William Donald (Deborah) Seighman of Abilene, TX, and Michael Burdette (Edythe) Seighman of Alvin, TX fourteen grandchildren: Jereme and Jesse Hall, Melissa (Josh) Hoch, Trisha Hall, Shawna (Ryan) Boydston, Miranda, William J., Breanna and Chase L. Seighman, Amanda (Ralph) Ryden, Deanna and David J. Brandt, IV, Aaron and Ryan Davis Thirteen great-grandchildren one brother: Walter Seighman of Belle Vernon, PA, and nephew Robert Seighman and niece Barb Vahaly. Bill was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 15, from 2-4 PM, at the Christian Gospel Church of Coleville, where funeral and committal services will begin at 4 PM, with the Rev. Dan LaPage, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Farmers Valley. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Christian Gospel Church of Coleville or the Patterson Cancer Center at Cole Memorial Hospital, 1001 E. 2nd St., Coudersport, PA 16915.
