Obituary of LeRoy Howard Hendrickson

Smethport - LeRoy Howard "Pete" Hendrickson, 91, of Smethport, died Sunday (August 14, 2016) in the Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport. He was born April 16, 1925 in Lafayette, a son of Roy and Margaret Black Hendrickson. On August 25, 2001, in Port Allegany, PA, he married Charlene Mae Head, who survives. Mr. Hendrickson attended Smethport High School and entered the U.S. Navy. He served during WWII from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Hendrickson was a maintenance manager at the Quaker State Oil Refinery of Farmers Valley before his retirement. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Smethport, where he sang in the Choir, the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport, and was a former Deputy Sheriff for McKean County. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one daughter: Michelle (David) Ford of Rew, PA one son: John (Lorraine) Hendrickson of Ridgway, PA several grandchildren, great grandchildren, step children, and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 17 at 11:00 am from the Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport, with the Rev. Rob Hernan, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Smethport, officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport.
