Obituary of O. Jeanne Vossler

Smethport - O. Jeanne Vossler, 93, of Ridgway, formerly of Smethport, died Saturday (September 10, 2016), at the Penn Highlands-Elk Hospital, St. Marys, PA. She had just enjoyed a very joyous celebration of her 93rd birthday. She was born Sept. 10, 1923 in Olean, NY, a daughter of Howard and Neva Drake Brunell. On Nov. 29, 1945, in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, Smethport, she married F. Bernard Vossler, who died April 30, 2003. Mrs. Vossler was a graduate of Bolivar (NY) High School and was a homemaker, tending to the needs of her family. She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church of Smethport. She was a member of their church choir for over 50 years. She played the piano and organ and had a beautiful soprano voice. She also was a Eucharistic Minister. She was a great woman of faith and highly sought after spiritual enrichment through many spiritual books and retreats. She attended daily Mass. Jeanne was a great baker and cook. She cooked for the family catering business and had also cooked for the residents of St. Joseph Manor. She also enjoyed Bridge Club and keeping in touch with friends by telephone. She is survived by: two daughters: Mary Morelli of Pittsburgh and Julie Gibbons of McKeesport six sons: Brent, John, Mark, Paul, and David Vossler, all of Smethport; and Rev. Brian Vossler of Ridgway, PA Grandchildren: Jonas, Jennell, Michael, Shawn, Jason, Phil, Mark, Andy, Tom, Thea, Tiffany, Kristie, Kelly and Riley Great Grandchildren: Trevor, Holly, Anthony, Brandon, Amanda, Zachariah, Westly and Karmyn, Sawyer, Kenidee and Olivia Four sisters: Betty Bender of Boston, MA; Kay Billhimer of McPherson, KS; Sally Fancher of Basom, NY and Nancy Noble of Orleans, MA Two brothers: Richard Brunell of Wellsville, NY and Butch Brunell of Washington, PA and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 10:00 am in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Brian Vossler as Celebrant and the Rev. Vincent Cieslewicz, Pastor, as Concelebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7:30 PM on Tuesday in the funeral home.
