Obituary of Allen T. Walker

Smethport - Allen Thomas "Butch" Walker, Jr., 68, of Clermont, died Wednesday (November 2, 2016) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. He was born July 12, 1948 in Kane, a son of Allen Thomas and Dollie Mae Finn Walker. On July 31, 1971, in Smethport, he married Sandra L. Wright, who survives. Mr. Walker was a 1967 graduate of Smethport Area Jr.-Sr. High School. He served in the U.S. Army 9th Infantry, Mobile Riverine Force in Vietnam in 1968-1969. He received the Army Commendation Medal with V-devices, a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal/Device 1960, Combat Infantryman Badge and Expert (M-14 Rifle). He was a member of the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a member of the Order of the Silver Rose. Mr. Walker was permanently injured during his service time and spent most of his time enjoying and helping family and friends. He was very active in the Clermont Sportsman's Club, and the Clermont Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years, having served as treasurer of both organizations. Mr. Walker was a Sergeant Township Supervisor for 16 years. He was caretaker of the Clermont Cemetery since 1976. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: four sons: Mark A. (Krista) Walker of Brodheadsville, PA, Paul T. Walker and Ryan L. (Kelly Herzog) Walker, both of Smethport, and Douglas W. (Ashley) Walker of Center Hall, PA eight grandchildren: Alexis, Reilly, Raygn, Hayden, Kaleb, Cole and Ethan Walker and Shelby Weaver one great-grandchild: Brysen Allen Miketish three sisters: Patricia (James) Fowler of Wilcox, Darlene O'Connell of Bradford and Linda (Michael) Solida of DuBois one brother: Lyndon Walker of Crosby and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 5 at 11:00 am from the Mt. Jewett United Methodist Church, with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor, officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Crosby and Smethport American Legions. Burial will be in Clermont Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Clermont Fire Dept., the Clermont Cemetery Assoc., or the Hazel Hurst United Methodist Church.
