Obituary of Lenora K. Kane

Smethport - Lenora K. Kane, 92, of Smethport, formerly of Clermont, died Saturday (January 7, 2017), at her residence in Smethport. She was born Feb. 27, 1924, a daughter of Joseph and Dominica Leni Cecchi, in New Town, PA, which was consumed by the Kinzua Reservoir after the dam was built. On June 8, 1946 in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, she married James B. Kane, Sr., who died July 25, 1980. Mrs. Kane was a 1942 graduate of Mt. Jewett High School and a 1944 graduate of Olean Business Institute. Mrs. Kane did secretarial work for UNG Gas of Clermont, had worked as an aide for the Smethport School District, and was a field clerk for National Fuel Gas, when she retired. She also was the secretary/treasurer for Sergeant Township for over 20 years, a position which she held into her 80's. She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport. She spent a lot of time over the years at the softball fields watching her grandchildren play ball. She is survived by: one daughter: Connie L. Kane of Smethport one son: James B. (Lorri) Kane, Jr. of Smethport three grandchildren: Sarah (Nate) Kane-Liu, Mallory (Chris) Andreason, and Brooke Kane-Walker three great-grandchildren: Nora and Carson Liu, and Sawyer Andreason. And several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas P. Kane. She was also predeceased by a brother, Vandio Cecchi, and two sisters, Anna Yoder and Elsa Bateman. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, Pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. A Christian Wake service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
