Obituary of Richard L. Rhodes

Smethport - Richard L. Rhodes, 85, of Cyclone, passed away Thursday (June 29, 2017) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford. He was born Feb. 23, 1932 in Bradford, a son of Raymond L. and Dora G. Youmans Rhodes. On July 29, 1955, in the United Methodist Church of Smethport, he married Karolyn A. Harbridge, who survives. They were married 61 years. Mr. Rhodes was a 1952 graduate of Bradford Area High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. Mr. Rhodes worked as a truck driver first for Owens-Illinois Forest Products and Georgia Pacific. He also drove bus for C.L. McKeirnan of Smethport. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two daughters: Cheryl (Joe) Thomas of Duke Center and Cindy (Gary) Master of Gifford two sons: Charles L. Rhodes of Cyclone and Craig A. Rhodes of Bradford three grandchildren: Hilary Commino, Lisa Master and Shane Master three great-grandchildren: Kiersten Unverdorben, Braxton Commino and Ivy Master and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one great-grandchild: Nevaeh Unverdorben and two sisters: Dora Melhouse and Elizabeth Lefford Miller. At Richard's request, there will be no visitation or services. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the McKean County SPCA or the American Cancer Society.
