Obituary of Doris A. Nourse

Smethport - Doris Ann Scott-Nourse, 84, of Bradford, formerly of Smethport, died Monday (July 24, 2017) in the Bradford Manor, Bradford. She was born Oct 14, 1932 in Rew, a daughter of Myrl R. and Lepha C. White Scott. On June 29, 1973, in Bradford, PA, she married Richard S. Nourse, who died December 12, 2011. Mrs. Nourse was a 1950 graduate of Bradford Area High School and was the office manager at the Bradford Cable Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star-Phoenix Chapter #15, where she was organist for 10 years, Maude Rebekah #175, American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 Auxiliary, U.M. Hill Memorial Church of Bradford, where she was a former member of the choir, was a Past President of AARP, and was a member of the Elderberry Club of Smethport.. Doris also volunteered for the American Cancer Society, Christian Community Service (Food Bank), was director of the Elderberry Kitchen Band at the Smethport Senior Center, was a former volunteer for the Bradford Hospital, RSVP office of Smethport, and Meals on Wheels with her husband. She is survived by: one sister: Marie S. Chase of Bradford several nieces and nephews: Fred & Cathy Salerno of Bradford, Mark & Deborah Thresher of Powell, OH, Alan & Judi Scott of Lewis Run, and Keith & Linda Chase of Virginia Beach, VA, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Ned Scott. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral and committal services will begin at 1 PM, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
