Obituary of Robert Edwin Miller

Smethport - Robert Edwin Miller, 91, of Smethport, died Tuesday (August 22, 2017) at his residence in Smethport. He was born Jan. 28, 1926 in Farmers Valley, a son of Roy E. and Verna Belle Ross Miller. On Aug. 17, 1945, in Gallipolis, OH, he married Margie May Welch, who survives. Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded in action in the Battle of Okinawa. Mr. Miller worked in many fields over the years. He was an auto body man, worked for the Smethport Borough Police Department, the sewer authority, the Borough of Smethport as an electrician and was a volunteer for the Smethport Fire Department In addition to his wife, he is survived by: three daughters:. Barbara Raymond of Benton, PA, Ramona (Gary) Moskol of Avon, IN, Marsha (Curtis) St. John of Westerville, OH one son: Robert E. (Cheryl Metz) Miller, Jr. of Coolville, OH 8 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren one brother: Charles E. Miller of Farmers Valley two sisters: Jane M. Fillhart and Marguerite "Peg" Smith, both of Smethport and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Fulfilling Robert's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
