Obituary of D. Faith Tanner

Smethport – D. Faith Tanner, 96, of Smethport, passed away peacefully into Jesus' arms on Thursday (March 1, 2018) at the Lakeview Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Smethport. She was born March 17, 1921 in Coleville, PA, a daughter of Harry M. and Dorothy Decker Dawley. In November of 1938, in Farmers Valley, PA, she married Claude E. Tanner, who died August 1980. Mrs. Tanner attended Bradford Schools and was a LPN working first for Stone Manor of Smethport, then at the Port Allegany Hospital, and retired from the Sena Kean Manor of Smethport. She was a member of the Smethport Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, the Farmers Valley Garden Club and loved doing puzzles and crocheting. She is survived by: three daughters: Elaine (Rodney) Newton of Farmers Valley, Sylvia (Ken) Johnson of Richmond, VA and Claudia (Donald) Fryer of Port Allegany one son: James A. (Eleanor) Tanner of Farmers Valley, PA many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Rodney A. Tanner, one brother and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 11:00 am from the Smethport Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, with the Rev. Steven Heath, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Farmers Valley. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Smethport Christian & Missionary Alliance Church or Hamlin Memorial Library, Smethport.
