Obituary of Grace Carol Strang

Smethport - Grace Carol Strang, 76, of Smethport, died Monday (June 29, 2009) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford. She was born Oct 9, 1932 in Olean, NY, a daughter of Axel E. and Genevieve Stickles Safstrom. On April 27, 1957, in Smethport, PA, she married Harold A. Strang, who died February 12, 1990. Mrs. Strang was a 1951 graduate of Smethport High School and was employed at GTE Sylvania of Emporium as a secretary for 8 years. For the majority of her life, she was a homemaker, and tended to the needs of her family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Smethport. She is survived by three daughters: Roxana L. Strang of Charlottesville, VA, Jane B. (Philip) Anderson of Paulden, AZ, Susan M. (James) Snyder of Akron, OH two sons: A. Alan Strang of Smethport, PA, Edward R. (Edith) Strang of Middlesex, NJ 8 grandchildren one brother: Richard Safstrom; and a close cousin, Alice Ford; and several nieces and nephews In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held on Friday, July 3, at 11 A.M., with the Rev. Randall Headley, pastor of the Port Allegany United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the United Methodist Church of Smethport, or the Hamlin Memorial Library, Smethport.
