Smethport - Sherry Ann Southard, 76, of Rixford, passed away Thursday (October 26, 2023) at UPMC-Shadyside, Pittsburgh.

She was born December 12, 1946 in Olean, NY, the daughter of Victor and Ilene (Smith) Myers. On May 1, 1965, in Eldred, PA, she married Robert L. Southard, who died in 2006.

Sherry was a graduate of Otto Eldred High School and worked for Case Cutlery of Bradford.

She was a member of the Smethport Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, the Eldred Senior Center, and the 700 Club. Over the years, Sherry taught Sunday School in both Eldred and Smethport. She loved her students and the impact she was able to leave on them.

She is survived by:

One daughter: Michelle A. Cheatle of Emporium

One son: Mark C. Southard of Eldred

Grandchildren: Taylor, Joshua, Shae and Jessica Southard

Five great grandchildren

Four sisters: Lorna J. James of North Carolina, Sandra L. O’Brien of Portville, NY, Rhonda S. Abbey of Williamsport, PA and Donna L. Foster of North Carolina

One brother: David V. Myers of Missouri

And several nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents and husband, Sherry was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Katrina Holden, and one sister, Ruby I. Myers

Visitation for Sherry will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, from 6-8PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 11AM in the Smethport Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Water St., Smethport. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
