Smethport - Donna M. Covert, 88, of Dickinson Manor, Smethport, passed away Friday (March 1, 2024) at Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.

She was born February 5, 1936 in Bradford, the daughter of Stewart E. and Della V. (Belser) Dixon . On October 15, 1954 in Lafayette, PA, she married Edward L. Covert, Jr., who died November 17, 2017.

Mrs. Covert was a resident of the area for most of her life. She worked at the Sears Store, Jaguar Manufacturing and Smethport Specialties all in Smethport. She was a secretary for the American Red Cross in Bradford for 13 years and worked for the Bradford Era for 3 years, from where she retired in 1998.

She loved camping and going to Florida in the winter. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and knitting baby hats for the Bradford Hospital.

She is survived by two sons; Kenneth (Jayme) Covert of Smethport and Jeffrey (Lori) Covert of Cyclone

One daughter; Melinda (Tim Gebauer) Stuck of Smethport.

5 Grandchildren; Brandon (Alysa), Jeff (Tonya), Tyler (Jessica), Dameon (Laura) Covert and Karissa (Josh Saltsman) Stuck.

6 Great Grandchildren; Kyra, Norah, Sofia, Emily, Jax and McKinnleigh.

Two sisters; Mary Ann (Rev. Roger) Dickinson of Greer, SC and Cindy (Jeff) Gardner of Duke Center, PA

Two brothers; Daniel Dixon and Robert (Kelly) Dixon, both of Smethport.

One sister-in-law; Marion Dixon of Huntsville, AL

And a host of friends at Dickinson Manor in Smethport

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Donald Dixon, a sister -in-law Theresa Dixon and a nephew Steven Thomas.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 10AM-12 Noon in Hilltop Baptist Church, Route 646, Gifford, where funeral services will begin at 12 Noon with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
