John D. Baker Obituary

Smethport - John D. Baker, Sr., 63, of Smethport, passed away Saturday (November 2, 2024) at his residence after battling cancer.




He was born January 10, 1961 in Olean, NY, the son of John DeForest Baker and Veda H. Kagerise. Since 1992, he has been together with his longtime companion, Dawn R. Pierce, who survives.




John had worked in many fields as a laborer and was a truck driver as well, before becoming disabled.




In addition to Dawn, he is survived by:


Three daughters: Danielle Button of Kane, Cassandra Baker and Megan Burdick


Several grandchildren


One son: John D. Baker, Jr.


One brother: Timothy Baker of Crosby


Two sisters: Veronica Kinner and Deborah Allen, both in Indiana


And several nieces and nephews




He was preceded in death by his parents.




In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
