Smethport - Richard D. Hixenbaugh, 77, of Smethport, passed away Friday (January 10, 2025) at Olean General Hospital.

He was born October 14, 1947 in Smethport, the son of Floyd K. and Lula (Himelrick) Hixenbaugh. He was married to Nancy Conley on April 20, 1974. She died on September 26, 2018.

Richard was a graduate of Smethport Area High School and had worked over the years in several places as a produce manager.

He was a member of the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing, spending time with family, and riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was an avid hunter and gun fanatic.

He is survived by:

A daughter: Shawna (Joseph) Geisler of Midlothia, VA

Three grandchildren: Katrina, Maximus and Zander

One brother: William Hixenbaugh of Elgin, SC

His hunting buddy and favorite nephew: Steven (Laura) Hixenbaugh of Lewis Run, PA

And several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, along with great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Nancy, Richard was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Denise David, on July 26, 2015, and one brother, Jack Hixenbaugh on June 27, 2018.

There will be no visitation. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date.
