Obituary of Anthony Laktash

Port Allegany - Anthony Laktash, Jr., 81, of Eldred, passed away Friday (May 9, 2025) at Wellsville Manor, Wellsville, NY.

 

He was born June 4, 1943 in Uniontown, PA, the son of Anthony, Sr. and Sarah (Bloom) Laktash.  On June 5, 1965, in Eldred, PA, he married Roberta Goldsmith, who preceded him in death.

 

Anthony was a graduate of Uniontown High School and a graduate of Penn State DuBois campus with an associate degree in computer science.

 

He served in the U.S.Navy as a Navy Seal and did two tours in Vietnam. He received a Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart for his service.  He worked several different jobs over the span of his working career, his last employment was from Zippo Manufacturing in Bradford, from where he retired.

 

He was a member of the Eldred VFW, and enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing. He was a Boxer while in the Navy, was a semi pro baseball player, and in high school, played football and was a standout wrestler that went to state finals.

 

He is survived by:

Two daughters: Julana Laktash of Eldred and Julie Schroll of Port Allegany

Five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren

Two brothers: Larry (Deborah) Laktash of Smethport and Rev. Roger (Susanne) Laktash of Port Allegany

And several nieces and nephews

 

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Anthony F. Laktash, IV, an infant son, and a brother, John Laktash.

 

There a Celebration of Anthony’s life will be held on May 24, 2025 in the Coryville Church of Faith at 12:00 (Noon) with the Rev. Karmon Wood officiating. Burial will be in Moody Hollow Cemetery, Coryville. Military Honors will be accorded at the Church
