Obituary of Susan Healy

Susan Babcock Healy, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully after a courageous two-year battle with leukemia.  She is survived by her husband of 38 years Luke, son Bryce (Britani) Healy, daughter Caryne (Cody) Williams, her parents Ed and Diane Babcock, brother Ed Babcock, Jr. (Missy), sister Cheryl Russell (Mike), grandchildren Jackson and Harper Healy & Madden Williams and several nieces and nephews.

Born on July 25, 1964, in Port Allegany, PA, Susan was a beacon of love, joy, and unwavering faith throughout her life. She graduated from Port Allegany High School in 1982 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Penn State University’s Schreyer Honors College in 1986. She later earned her Master of Education from Drexel University, a testament to her lifelong passion for learning and teaching.

Susan began her professional career as a Certified Public Accountant, working with excellence and integrity for over a decade at Deloitte and Adelphia Communications. She later followed her heart into education, where she taught math for nine years at Port Allegany High School and another nine years as a math instructor at South Hills School of Business and Technology in State College, PA.

Whether balancing books or teaching equations, Susan’s impact was far greater than numbers. She was remembered by students, colleagues, and community members for her warmth, patience, and genuine care for others.

Susan’s deep faith was formed and sheppard’d at the Evangelical Covenant Church of Port Allegany where she was baptized and would later teach Sunday school to her own children and many others.  She was an avid reader of the Word, devotionals, Christian fiction & nonfiction books, and journaled frequently.

More than her career, Susan’s deepest devotion was to her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother & “Cece” to her grandchildren.  Susan radiated joy and kindness. She was vibrant, outgoing, selfless. Her life was one of service, laughter, hugs, hard work, and fierce love. She turned towards and walked through life’s storms—especially her final years—with unmatched faith, courage and grace.  Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, every student she taught, and every family member she loved so well.
