Obituary of George L. Failey

Port Allegany - George Leo Failey, 96, of Port Allegany, passed away Monday (May 19, 2025) at his home in the care of his loving caregivers.

He was born August 7, 1928 in Binghamton, the son of George Failey, Sr and Marion (Corliss) Failey.

He was a 1946 graduate of Waverly High School. In 1952 he graduate from Notre Dame University with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Foreign and Domestic Finance.

He was a Tech 5 in the U.S. Army, serving from Sept 26, 1946 to Jan. 28, 1948, in Japan.

Mr. Failey was a President and CEO of North Penn Gas Company, retiring in 1998.

George had a love for traveling, entertaining guests, the great outdoors, his Irish heritage and Notre Dame football.

He is survived by brother James Failey of Waverly, NY and his extended family, the Hogan’s, also from Waverly, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents

Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 21, 2025 from 1-4 PM in St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, 203 Arnold Ave., Port Allegany, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 4PM, with the Rev. Joseph Dougherty, pastor as Celebrant. A funeral dinner will be held following Mass in the chruch hall. Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery, Waverly, NY.
