Smethport - Bruce A. Houben, 76, of Eldred, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away surrounded by his family, Sunday (November 2, 2025) at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport.

He was born August 21, 1949 in Olean, NY, the son of Clifford and Mary (Lloynes) Houben. On July 4, 1986, in Eldred, PA, he married Patricia E. Riley, who survives.

Mr. Houben was a 1967 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School and served in the US Navy during Vietnam.

Mr. Houben was a metal inspector, employed by Dresser-Rand of Olean, NY, before retirement.

He loved his fur babies. He loved gardening, hunting, golfing, canning, and making sauerkraut.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by:

Three daughters: Trisha (Jeff) Douglas of Buffalo, NY, Danielle (Thomas) VanScoter of Eldred, and Jennifer Carr of Roulette

Three sons: Frederick (Sherry) Hepfer, Jr. of Stow, OH, Duane (Sherri) Hepfer of Little Genessee, NY and Leon (Jamie) Hakes, III, of Eldred, PA

Sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren

One brother: Wayne (Marie) Houben of Rixford, PA

He was preceded in death by his parents.

At Bruce’s request, there will be no visitation or services.
