Port Allegany - Michael J. Hammond, 66, of Coudersport, passed away Monday (December 8, 2025) at UPMC-Williamsport.

He was born November 10, 1959 in Port Allegany, the son of Frederick and Dorothy (Trimm) Hammond.

Mikey was a 1978 graduate of Port Allegany High School and was a longtime worker initially for the former Erway’s Market, now Kaytee’s Family Restaurant and Market, as well as the Potter County Vet Clinic, all in Coudersport.

Mike had been involved with many things over the years, but close to his heart, was his affiliation with the Sheetz Family Christmas.

He is survived by:

One son: Dustin A. Gaberseck of DuBois, PA

Four brothers: Bernard L.R. (Dawn) Hammond of Rixford, Richard T. (Charlene Eaton) Hammond of Greensburg, PA, Dean M. (Amy) Hammond of Troupsburg, NY, and Terry (Brenda) Williams of Keating Summit

Four sisters: Sally A. VanGorder and Susan I. (Mark) Herbert, both of Port Allegany, Nancy M. (Gary) Hagg and Laura L. (Mark VanGorder) Elliott, both of Smethport

And many nieces and nephews

In addition to his parents, Mikey was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas A. Hammond in 2024, as well as brother-in-laws: Eugene VanGorder, Wade Elliott and James Stiles.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from Noon  till 3PM in the Gospel Tabernacle Church, 420 US-6 Coudersport, PA at wich time a Celebration of Life for Mike will start at 3PM, with the Rev. Allen Young, Pastor of the East Smethport United Christian Church Officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
