Smethport - Leslie Jane Johnston, 73, of Smethport, passed away Monday (April 20, 2026) at her home in Smethport.

She was born September 16, 1952 in Port Allegany, the daughter of Glenn Richard Johnston and Marilyn Jean (Engblom) Hansen.

Leslie was a 1970 graduate of Port Allegany High School and worked at a Children’s Christian School for a period of time before working at Xerox Corporation of Rochester, NY, from where she retired.

Leslie was known for her quiet gentle spirit, her love of family, and her faith in God.

She is survived by:

One sister: Nancy K. (Michael) Sample of Smethport

Two brothers: Thomas M. (Kathy) Johnston of Wellsboro, PA and Bruce M. Johnston of Rochester, NY

Nieces and nephews: Matthew (Amanda) Gustafson, Rachel (Scott) DeBruycker, Mark Johnston, and Felicia (Brian) Steen

Great nieces and great nephews: Canon Gustafson, Octavian and Aurelian DeBruycker, Mason Anthony and Loralie Evan

Leslie was preceded in death by her parents.

In keeping with Leslie’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
