Obituary of Eric A. "Sharkie" Thomas

Smethport - Eric A. "Sharkie" Thomas, 67, of Cyclone, passed away Saturday (March 3, 2018) at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 4, 1951 in Bradford, a son of Joseph A. Thomas and Ruth Cypher. On April 16, 1977, in Smethport, he married Karen Holes, who survives. Mr. Thomas served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He worked as a truck driver for Kightlinger Excavating. "Sharkie" was a life member of the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport and the VFW Post #2497 of Smethport. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by: Step mother: Twila Thomas of Cyclone two daughters: Lisa (Scott) Rice and Erica (Steve) Burritt, both of Cyclone, one son: Anthony (Kristi) Thomas of Smethport four grandchildren: Chance, Ryli, Kolbie and Joshua three sisters: Regina (Gary) Frain of Sarver, PA, Jarrica (Bill) Shorter of Winter Springs, FL and Anita (Kevin) Sluga of Mt. Jewett three brothers: Stanley (Connie) Halladay of Gifford, Pa., Wayne Thomas of Port Allegany, and Dan Cypher of Freeport, PA and several nieces and nephews In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Parker. In keeping with "Sharkie's" wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of his life at the cancer benefit on March 24, 2018 from 1p to 6p at the Smethport Fire Hall.
