Obituary of Phyllis M. Daniels

Smethport- Phyllis Mae Daniels, 91, of Smethport, died Monday (June 15, 2009) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. She was born January 21, 1918 in Smethport, a daughter of Fred and Pauline Pearson Milroy. On June 28, 1938, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Smethport, PA, she married Robert "Jake" Daniels, who died April 9, 1988. Mrs. Daniels was a graduate of Smethport High School Class of 1935. She was employed as a waitress at the Milroy Diner, was a baker, and owned and operated Daniel's Candy Store on Mechanic St. in Smethport. For the majority of her life, she was a housewife tending to the needs of her family. She was a Lifetime Charter Member of the Smethport Fire Department Auxillary, the Trinity Lutheran Church of Smethport, and the Rebekah Lodge. She was an avid bowler, reader, and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She is survived by one daughter: Pauline Anderson of Smethport, PA three sons: Walter "Walt" Daniels of Mt. Ulla, NC, Robert Daniels of Smethport, PA, Charles "Chuck" Daniels of Smethport, PA one sister: Elena Snyder of Smethport, PA 8 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great Great Grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristine Daniels in 1971, and 1 brother. There will be no visitation. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
