Obituary of William H. Kisko, Sr.

Crosby - William H. Kisko, Sr., 88, of Crosby, passed away on Wednesday (April 27, 2016) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford. He was born Jan. 29, 1928 in Bitumen, a son of Joseph and Mary Polaskey Kisko. Mr. Kisko was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He was on the U.S.S. Macon, part of the Atlantic Fleet. He was at sea for 17 months and he and the crew were never told their location, as it was kept secret. Mr. Kisko worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, which became Penn Central Rail Road, and then Con-Rail. He worked his way up to Engineer before he retired from Con-Rail. He was a member of the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby and the Norwich Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. of Crosby. He is survived by: three daughters: Anna L. (Walter) DeHaven of Port Allegany, Barbara E. (Garry) Hoch of Duke Center, and Melinda L. Teats of Smethport four sons: Joseph E. Kisko of Smethport, William H. (Teresa) Kisko, Jr. of Mainesburg, PA, Anthony M. Kisko and Kim A. Kisko, both of Smethport Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great granchildren one sister: Frances Smitchko of Washington State, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph "Sonny" Kisko, Jr. and Eugene "Chip" Kisko; two sisters: Elizabeth "Betty" Simon and Bertha Brown. Following Bill's wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 7 at 12 noon, at the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, PA. Military Honors will be accorded following services at the Legion. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, PA, the Norwich Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. of Crosby, PA, or Priority Care Ambulance Service, Smethport, PA.
