Obituary of Doris J. Nelson

Smethport - Doris J. Nelson, 84, of Smethport, died Tuesday (February 7, 2017) in the UPMC-Hamot, Erie. She was born March 21, 1932 in Penn Yen, NY, a daughter of Samuel and Esther Cummings McElwee. In 1952, in Aberdeen, MD, she married Stanley C. Nelson, who survives. Mrs. Nelson was a school bus driver in Penn Yen for 20 years. She also drove school bus in Smethport for McKeirnan Inc. She enjoyed being active in several Tractor Clubs and attending Tractor shows. In addition to her husband, she is survived by: one daughter: Laurie Nelson of Cibola, TX one son: Gregory (Cynthia) Nelson of Dansville, NY Grandchildren: Andy Nelson, Erica Nelson, and Chenae Nelson-Day Great Grand Child: Isabella Day one sister: Nancy Hockensmith of CA two brothers: David McElwee and Samuel McElwee, both of Penn Yen, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Nelson, in 1959. In keeping with Doris' wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
