Obituary of Arthur O. Hector

Smethport - Arthur O. "Bud" Hector, 79, of Smethport, died Wednesday (October 17, 2012) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford. He was born July 18, 1933 in Smethport, a son of Emil Arthur and Ester Ida Evelyn Anderson Hector. On Sept. 26, 2002, in Las Vegas, NV, he married Judy B. Welch, who survives. They had been together since June of 1988. Mr. Hector was a 1951 graduate of Smethport High School and attended Williamson Trade School of Media, PA, graduating from there in 1953. Mr. Hector was a self employed carpenter. In his earlier years, he worked for several different individual carpenters and then went out on his own. He was still semi-active in his profession at the time of his death. Bud enjoyed sports, especially Pittsburgh Pirates baseball and Pittsburgh Steelers football. He enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards, vacationing in Las Vegas and most of all, spending time in his work shop. He was a social member of the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Cynthia Hector of Pittsford, NY , and Karen Hector of Bradford, PA step children: Dixie (Bud) Wright, David (Deb) Wilber, Debra (Paul) Sample, Melissa Platko step grandchildren: Shannon (Chad) Kleisath, Stacy (Heath) Confer, Paul Platko, Elizabeth Platko, Mary Wilber, Abbey Wilber, Emily Sample, and James Sample step great-grandchildren: Luke and Jack Kleisath, Branton and Braydon Confer, and Mackenzie Grey. Several beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Bruce A. Hector on Nov. 22, 2011, and a sister, Ida Elaine Peterson. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 11 A.M., with the Rev. Steven Heath, pastor of the Smethport Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
