Smethport - Elawese Himes, 79, of Smethport, died Sunday (January 12, 2014) at her home in Smethport.

She was born July 2, 1934 in Clio, South Carolina, a daughter of Jesse and Hattie Bryant Clark. On August 16, 1953, in South Carolina, she married Marvin E. "Bill" Himes, who died October 14, 2003.

Mrs. Himes was a housewife tending to the needs of her family.

She was a member of the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 Auxiliary of Smethport, PA

She is survived by:

two sons: William (Gail) Himes of Thomas, OK and Jesse (Amy) Himes of Smethport, PA

one brother: James H. “Buddy” (Dovie) Clark, Sr. of Fayetteville, NC

one granddaughter: Heather Himes of Thomas, OK.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Tessie Mae Faircloth.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, where funeral and committal services will be held on Friday, Jan. 17 at 11:00 am, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Clermont Cemetery, Clermont, PA.
