Obituary of Frances L. Finley

Smethport - Frances Lucille Finley, 86, of Smethport, died Thursday (October 18, 2012) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. She was born Sept. 5, 1926 in Bradford, a daughter of John Francis and Ethel Graham McAnallen. On Oct. 16, 1948, in St. Elizabeth Church, she married Irving E. Caldwell. He died on January 19, 1986. On May 2, 1987, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sartwell, she married Francis W. Finley, who died March 23, 2011. Mrs. Finley was a 1944 graduate of Smethport Area High School and attended Mason Felix Beauty School in Pittsburgh, graduating in 1948. She owned and operated Fran's Beauty Shop for 40 years retiring in 1988. Frances volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 10 years, was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport, was a Eucharistic Minister, C.D of A, a member of St. Elizabeth Women, and Quilters at St. Elizabeth of Hungary church. She was also a former member of the Smethport Country Club, and a 25 year member of the Forty Coachmen Club. She is survived by one daughter: Deborah Caldwell of Coudersport, PA two sons: George (Carolyn Jane) Caldwell of East Smethport, and Bernard (Marcia) Caldwell of Dubin, VA one step daughter: Lori (Doug) Jewell of Smethport three grandchildren: Tabatha (Matt) Dart, Heather (Mark) Gardner, and Kevin Caldwell four step grandchildren: Ashley (Chad) Caldwell, Doug Jewell, Justin (Megan) Jewell, and Darien Jewell; 8 great grandchildren two sisters: Jeanne Caldwell of Arkansas, and Elizabeth "Betty Lou" Schmoker of West Palm Beach, FL two brothers: John "Jack" McAnallen of Smethport, and Joseph McAnallen of Tucson, AZ and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Charles, James, and Robert McAnallen. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Oct. 22, at 10 A.M., in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. A Christian Wake service will be conducted in the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Church, Hamlin Memorial Library, Priority Care Ambulance, or a charity of the donor's choice.
