Obituary of Cleora L. Hoffman
: Obituary - Cleora L. Hoffman ____________________________________________________________________________Smethport - Cleora L. Hoffman, 93, of Smethport, died Monday (February 2, 2009) in the Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport.She was born Jan 25, 1916 in Browntown, a daughter of Frank Herman and Mae McGinley Foster. On Feb. 12, 1942, in Port Allegany, she married John A. Hoffman, who died April 17, 1983.Mrs. Hoffman was a 1934 graduate of Bradford Area High School. After graduation, she moved to Cleveland, OH and worked for Ohio Chemical Co. and Pitney Glass of General Electric. After returning to Port Allegany, she was employed at Blatt Bros. Grand Theater, Port Allegany. In 1951, she was employed by Swartz's Dry Goods, and later, Buckheits Dry Goods, both in Port Allegany.She was a member of St. Gabriel Church, Port Allegany, and St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, was a S.V.R.P. at Sena Kean Manor for many years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, Port Allegany, where she held membership for over 50 years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Ave Maria #203, and also served as a District Deputy, and was a member of AARP. Mrs. Hoffman served on all class reunion committees for the Class of 1934, Bradford High School.She is survived bytwo daughters: Sharon (David) Gulnac of Lewis Run, PA, Rosemary (Robert) DaPolito of Olean, NY one son: Joseph (Grace Ramsey) Hoffman of Elderd, PAgrandchildren: Mark, Scott, and Brian Rice; Brenda and Christopher DaPolito, and Amanda Hoffmanstep grandchildren: Lori Waye and David Gulnacgreat grandchildren: Brian Rice, Skyler Rice, and Caine DeGolierstep great grandchildren: Taylor Hodges, Alexis Gulnac, and Cody HodgesVisitation will be held on Thursday from 2 - 4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc, 105 N Main St, Port Allegany, PA. A Christian Wake service will be held at 3:30, Thursday, in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, at 10 am, at St.Elizabeth Church with the Rev. Charles R. Schmitt as celebrant.
