Obituary of Aletha F. Springstead

Smethport- Aletha F. Springstead, 86, of, Fayetteville, NC, formerly of Smethport, died Tuesday (February 3, 2009) in the Cape Fear Valley Hospital, Fayetteville. She was born Jan 23, 1923 in Swain, NY a daughter of John Clark and Arline Howe Wirt. Mrs. Springstead attended Smethport Schools. She was a Nurses Aid, employed by Sena Kean Manor. She retired in 1981. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport Senior Center, The Elderberries, and AARP. She is survived by one daughter: Arlene M. Morris of Fayetteville, NC two sons: Elvin G. Springstead of Olean, NY, Duane C. Springstead of Vass, NC one brother: Joseph Miles Wirt of Kansas City, MO 13 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 son, Dean Springstead, 1 brother, and 1 sister. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, at 10 am, in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Charles Schmitt, officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. Memorials may be made to Smethport Senior Center.
