Obituary of Peggy J. Work

Smethport - Peggy Jean Work, 83, of Smethport, died Monday (March 30, 2009) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. She was born April 15, 1925 in Bradford, a daughter of the late William E. and Margaret Mary Abel Davis. On Feb. 21, 1943, in Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, she married Delmar L. Work, Sr., who died on Feb. 19, 1995. Mrs. Work was employed in the cafeteria at the Smethport High School, then in food services at the former St. Francis Hospital of Olean, NY, and she ultimately worked for Olean Home Healthcare, from which she retired. She was a member of the former Rebekah Lodge of Smethport. She is survived by two daughters: Donna Stone of Lenhartsville, PA, Deborah Mott of Smethport, PA one son: Delmar Work, Jr. of Cyclone, PA 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral and committal services will held at 11A.M, Thursday, with the Rev. Wilbur Barber, officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society; McKean County, or the Hamlin Memorial Library, Smethport.
