Obituary of Lawrence Johnson

Smethport - Lawrence C. Johnson, 70, of Roulette, passed away Thursday (December 13, 2018) at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport, PA.

 

He was born March 7, 1948 in Kane, PA, a son of Lawrence B. and Mary C. Cooper Johnson.  On March 15, 2005, in Smethport, he married Hope E. Springman, who survives.

 

Mr. Johnson was a graduate of  Smethport Area High School and served in the U.S. Army and in the U.S. Air Force.

 

After his service to his country, he had worked as a game warden and finally as a corrections officer, retiring in 2010.

 

Larry was a member of the American Legion; Bucktail Post  #138 of Smethport.  He loved hiking, swimming and kayaking.

 

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by:

Sons: Brad Nolte of Smethport and Andrew Snell of Montgomery, PA

Daughters: Teri Gardner of Waterford, PA, Dawn Baranski of Winchester, VA, Sheila Boik of Port St. Lucie, FL, Elizabeth Snell and Sara Snell, both of Muncy, PA

several grandchildren and great-grandchildren

Brother: Jeff Johnson of Smethport and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, and one great grandson, Parker.

 

Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 AM to 1 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, where a military honors service will be held at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 Honor Guard.
