Obituary of Franklin Burdette Jackson
Smethport - Franklin Burdette Jackson, 96, of Smethport, passed away Friday (December 21, 2018) at the Lakeview Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Smethport.
He was born July 12, 1922 in Smethport, a son of Albert and HattieWillis Jackson. On July 22, 1943, in Newell Creek, he married Maryetta Keech, who died on March 15, 2009.
Mr. Jackson attended Smethport area schools. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943 to 1946. His unit received the Meritorious Award serving in the European Theater of operations for 28 months.
Mr. Jackson was a self-employed carpenter for many years.
He was a member of the First Church of God of Eldred, was a past member of the IOOF 40 Coachman, a past member of Rotary International, was a former Otto Eldred School Board member, and past member of the IOOF Meadville Children’s Home Board.
Frank loved camping, Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, woodworking and reading.
He is survived by:
One daughter: Joyce E. (J. Lynn) Cirigliano of Corry, PA
Four sons: Allen L. (Jodee) Jackson of Smethport, Steven B. (Joni) Jackson of Eldred, Roger D. (Catherine) Jackson of Boston, NY and Tyler Kayes of Monmouth, NJ
Eleven grandchildren: Karen (Mark) Shelton, Lynette (Tom) Willis, Chandi (Matt) Brooks, Matt and Chad Jackson, Emily (Matt) Roberts, Tanya (Martin) Frantz, Sheree (Chris) Swatsler, Jake (Sarah) Cirigliano, Daniel (Ellen) Jackson and Erica Jackson
Fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Franklin D. Jackson, three brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday (Dec. 26) from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the First Church of God of Eldred and Thursday from 10-11 AM at First Church of God of Eldred, where funeral and committal services will start at 11 AM with the Rev. James A. Kazimer, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany. Military honors will be accorded at the end of services in the church.
