Obituary of Mildred I. York

Smethport - Mildred I. York, 88, of Smethport, formerly of Canton, NY, passed Wednesday (January 20, 2021) at Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.

 

She was born Aug. 14, 1932 in Watertown, NY, a daughter of Lloyd and Ione Dafoe Hennigan.  On Dec. 7, 1949, in Potsdam, NY, she married James  O. York, Sr., who passed away on July 15, 2019, after 70 years of marriage.

 

Mildred worked for many years at Case Cutlery in Bradford, PA.

 

She is survived by five sons:  Gerald Joe (Nancy) of Potsdam, NY, Gilbert (Sharon) of Eldred, James, Jr. of Potsdam, NY, Byron (Jody) of Eldred, and Dennis of Pittsburgh, PA

One daughter:  Anne (Chet) Kraft of Lewis Run, PA

Sixteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren

One sister-in-law:  Margaret Hennigan of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Denise York; one brother, Richard Hennigan, Sr.; three sisters:  Gladys Murdock, Lavina Fitzpatrick, and Dorothy Cornell

 

In keeping with Mildred’s wishes, there will be no public services.
