Obituary of Raymond Douglas Yingling

Smethport - Raymond Douglas “ Doug” Yingling, 68, of Smethport, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday (January 23, 2021) at Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY from COVID- 19.

He was born Jan. 12, 1953 in Butler, PA, a son of Kenneth Daniels and June Catherine Vasey Yingling.  On July 7, 1990, in Smethport, he married Jill T. Simms Yingling who survives.

Doug was a graduate of A.C. Valley High School and had worked at Quaker State Oil refinerey, then Petro Wax, and finally, International Waxes of Farmers Valley, PA, for over 47 years.

He was a member of and visiting musician at  the Hilltop Baptist Church, a musician with the Mt. Jewett Assembly of God Church, a musician with the Church Of God of Eldred and a member and weekly worship leader at the Free Christian Evangelical Church of Smethport .  Doug was one of the founding members of the band, “C.R.O.W.N.”  And was  also a member and Past Master of the Blue Lodge #388 F&AM of Smethport.

In addition to his wife, Jill,  he is survived by and so very proud of his three children:

One daughter:  Melody A. (Paul Etter) DeLuca of Smethport

Two sons:  Ryan D. (Kellie) Yingling of Smethport and Jacob D. (Andrea) Yingling of North East, PA 

 “Grampa Doug” to his nine grandchildren:  Kendall, Rylan, Greyson, Andrew, Claire, Jonah, Mark, Jr., Michael and Meagan.

Several nieces and nephews: Cristi, Debbie , Ben, Thomas, Brittany, Michelle, Jared, Micah, Tiffany, Megan, Maxy, Marklyn; and his close friends Red Strutt, Bruce Jack, Pastor BJ Simms Max and Mark. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Yingling, and one sister, Barbara Bowser.

Due to the current COVID restrictions, there will be no services held at this time.  A celebration of Doug’s life will be held this summer for his many family and friends.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to Tamarack Wildlife Refuge of Sagerstown, PA the Bradford SPCA or the Smethport Senior Center.  

Doug’s family would respectfully ask you to remember Doug by please wearing a face mask.
