Obituary of Laura Marie Hobbs

Port Allegany - Laura Marie Hobbs, 80, of Port Allegany, passed away Thursday (February 18, 2021) at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport. 

She was born February 7, 1941 in Port Allegany, the daughter of Homer and Thressa Freer Falk. On June 1, 1957, in Port Allegany, she married Gerald R. “Jerry” Hobbs, who survives. They were married for 63 years. 

Marie attended Port Allegany Schools and worked first for the Hamlin 5&10 Store in Port Allegany.  She then worked as a receptionist/secretary for North Penn Gas Company, retiring after 25 years.  

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Port Allegany, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Church Women’s Auxiliary.  She was also a member of the Women of the Moose in Port Allegany.  

In addition to her husband, she is survived by:

One daughter; Candy (Edward) Leff of Pittsburgh, PA

Three sons; Scott Hobbs of Port Allegany, Chuck Hobbs of Millport, NY and Randy (Lisa) Hobbs of Astor, FL.

Beloved grandchildren; Bobby, Courtney, Meghan, Tyler, Ashley, Harley Hobbs, Amanda Ritchie and Lindsey Leff.

Beloved great-grandchildren: Liam, Zoe, Carter, Emerson and Kason.

Two brothers; William (Sherrie) Falk of Port Allegany and Homer “Bud” (Betty) Falk of Jefferson, OH

One sister: Betty (Don) Gosnell of Coudersport, PA. Many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

 She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 9-11 AM at the United Methodist Church of Port Allegany, Main St., where funeral services will begin at 11 AM with the Rev. Michael Culver, officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.  A luncheon will be held at the Port Allegany Memorial Home following the services.  All current COVID-19 masking and social distancing restrictions will apply.
