Obituary of Travis L. Smithmyer

Port Allegany - Travis L. Smithmyer, 27, of Port Allegany, passed away Saturday (March 13, 2021).

He was born August 20, 1993 in Coudersport, the son of Kirt Smithmyer and Michelle Causer.  

Travis graduated from Port Allegany High School in 2012 and went on to the National Guard and graduated basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri the same year. He also loved camping, hiking and cookouts with family and friends and he loved kids. He was always bubbly and laughing, joking and doing what he could to cheer people up. He enjoyed floating the Allegheny River.He worked as a carpenter for several local contractors in the area.  

In addition to his parents, he is survived by:

Paternal grandmother:  Jean Smithmyer of Roulette

Maternal grandmother:  Jessica Penick of Port Allegany

Maternal grandfather:  Michael Causer of Hazelhurst

Two brothers:  Jessie Torres, III of Quincy, MA and Walker Smithmyer of Port Allegany

One nephew:  Ace Smithmyer

Along with several Aunts, Uncles and cousins. 

Travis was preceded in death by his maternal step-grandfather, Gary Penick, and his paternal grandfather, Leo Smithmyer. 

A celebration of Travis’ life will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 2:00PM, in the Port Allegany Veterans Memorial Home, Rt. 155, Port Allegany.
