Obituary of Phyllis J. Green
Smethport - Phyllis J.(PJ) Green, 71, of Smethport, passed away Saturday (May 29, 2021) at Lakeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Smethport.
She was born May 14, 1950 in Port Allegany, the daughter of the late John F. and Jean V. Kerr Hewitt.
PJ was a member of Smethport High School Class of 1968 and was a 1975 graduate of the Olean Business Institute.
She worked at the McKean County Office of Human Services for 37 years in Smethport before retiring in 2012.
She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Smethport. She was the Altar Guild Directress, Co-coordinator of the annual Arts & Craft fair. Since 2014 she and her best friend, Linda Huntington, have managed the Pink Elephant Thrift store in Smethport.
She was a milestone blood donor and a major supporter of St. Jude’s.
She is survived by:
Two sons: Brian (Kelly) Green of Coudersport and Kevin (Rachel) Green of Mansfield
Four grandchildren, Taylor and Jared Green of Coudersport and Jacob and Andrew Green of Mansfield. and several nieces and nephews. A sister in law, Linda K. Hewitt of Smethport and her “adopted” son, confidante and friend, Robert Miles of Pittsburgh.
In addition to her parents, PJ was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Hewitt and one sister, Maxine Nawrocki.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 4th from 10 AM to noon at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 602 W. Main St., Smethport, where funeral services will begin at noon, with the Rev. Deb Cavagnaro, officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Farmers Valley.
