Obituary of John M. Prosser
Smethport - John M. Prosser, 96, of Smethport, passed away Friday (June 25, 2021) at his home in Smethport.
He was born December 9, 1924 in Emporium, the son of John F. and Kathryn Matteson Prosser. On Feb. 13, 1948 in Crosby, he married Jean Crouse, who survives.
He attended Smethport High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1943 to 1945. He was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
Mr. Prosser was a heavy construction worker, employed by Operatoring Engineers Local 66.
He was a member of the Bradford Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.
One son; John “Pete” (Cecelia) Prosser of Ormsby, PA
Two daughters; Nena Burdick of Smethport and Kathryn (Dr. Michael Taylor) Prosser of York, PA
Six grandchildren; Michael Raszmann, Patrick (Amy Haskins) Welch, Molly Prosser Rawsthorn, Krista Prosser, Torrence Stout and Lorenzo Stout.
Three great grandchildren; Harley, Riley and Kaylee Welch
One great great grandson; Jackson Welch
Two sisters; Josephine Ferguson of Texas and Jeanette Sweeley of Smethport, PA
Mr. Prosser was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Nick, Jim and Jake Prosser.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 3, 2021 from 1:00 PM at Norwich Twp. Fire Hall, Crosby.
