Port Allegany - James C. Tarbox, 80, of Coudersport, passed away Sunday (October 10, 2021) at his residence, after a lengthy illness.



He was born September 29, 1941 in Port Allegany, a son of Herman Tarbox and Katherine (Hults) Minard. On September 5, 1961, in Roulette, PA, he married Beverly J. Kellogg, who survives.



Mr. Tarbox was a graduate of Port Allegany High School Class of 1960.



Jim was employed by S.M. Flickinger and Market Basket stores until his retirement. He and his wife were also co-owners of the Foote Rest campground for several years.



Jim was a member of the Allegany, NY Fire Dept., an honorary life member of the Port Allegany Star Hose Company, and a social member of the Frank Burt Post #258 of Port Allegany. He was a past member of the Port Allegany Chamber of Commerce.



In addition to his wife, Beverly, he is survived by:

One daughter: Susan E. (David) Reese of Coudersport, PA

one son: Robert J. (Kelly) Tarbox Port Allegany, PA,

Grandchildren: Kristin (Brett) Drugg, Justin (Mande) Crowley, Heidi (Brody Vasko) Reese, Keely Tarbox and Ethan Tarbox

Great grandchildren: Cayden and Carter Drugg, Nathan and Layla Crowley

one sister: Rebecca Mingo of Port Allegany, PA.

and several nieces and nephews



Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Deborah K. Tarbox, one sister, Beverly Braunroth, three brothers, Adelbert “Sonny”, Jerry and Lester Tarbox.



Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes Inc., 105 Main St., Port Allegany. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 15 at 11 AM from the funeral home, with the Rev. Matt Howe, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
